Let her answer. You can go ahead and answer.

Um, I have been, one of the things that's bothered me, not bothering me, but has been guiding me is is things that my constituent, uh Mrs. uh Linette Smack has has said to me. She had a great concern over taking what we do, general,
Play from 1:15:16Jul 21, 2026, Alderman's Court Ad Hoc Meeting
for the uh construction appeals, and having it pulled out and put into this court. Now, I don't think we have to do that.
Play from 1:15:37Jul 21, 2026, Alderman's Court Ad Hoc Meeting
Yeah, so my so my concern, because we serve on that committee, we know uh well, we work in that committee, and I don't see any reason why you have to push that into there. I think we have to form this based on
Play from 1:15:53Jul 21, 2026, Alderman's Court Ad Hoc Meeting
what we have learned from our people who have had concerns about the previous Alderman's Court. I think the same thing is we have to look at the fact that nothing is happening and nothing will happen as long as the courts are dismissing

what has happened to our cities for people who can't help themselves. And there has to be a a point, the leverage point has to shift when these people are now making it difficult for people, for jobs,

for businesses. In my opening remarks, this is what I said: what do we do, it may be involuntary commitment, does that have to be expanded? We have to have the legal form, we just can't say, "You have to go into detox
Play from 1:16:38Jul 21, 2026, Alderman's Court Ad Hoc Meeting
and be there for a period of time." When detox is over, what's going to happen to that person? There has to be something at the end of that. We have to have people who are consistently uh messing up our streets.
Play from 1:16:54Jul 21, 2026, Alderman's Court Ad Hoc Meeting
We need to have something. We We can't touch the drug dealers, that is the court's job to take care of that, but we have this this group of people who are basically devastating the quality of life,

businesses, homes, and values of our businesses that drive

the economy that we need to basically to help them. That's the irony. And that's what we have to solve with this, bringing back the Alderman's Court as a legal means to do so. The thing is, I think, and we've kind of got off of that when we start talking about the traffic problems and how they handle it, I just look at the traffic problems as a cash register that has to going to be it's going to be able to provide the the dollars that are necessary in this process because it is the court cost, and that that's where it's going to come from. But that's the challenge to do that without hurting the things that Miss Mack has brought up to us. And I'm driven by that. She may not think I think that, but I'm driven by that. I think about that. That is something that is extremely important to be fair, but we're still looking for justice with compassion. Ready?

Uh, thank you, Mr. Chairman. Uh, one, has he paid everything that has been billed?
Play from 08:59Jun 24, 2026, Construction & Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals Meeting
So nothing has been paid, or very little has been paid of this. And if he had an agent, he would not have this—not the sales agent, but an agent that's listed. I mean, I'm really saying this for the record because you guys know all this. He's a danger to the neighborhood. He's a danger as a magnet for addicts who will destroy the inside of the house and can burn it down. Right.
Play from 09:16Jun 24, 2026, Construction & Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals Meeting
So the reason for it is is important, and if he is a contractor for the government and not military that's on assignment, that represents an entirely different picture.
Play from 09:45Jun 24, 2026, Construction & Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals Meeting
So if if he we received this document that that this property is on sale, does that freeze, uh, any future damage or permit?
Play from 10:58May 6, 2026, Construction and Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals Meeting
Yes, um have have the police been called to the building at all for trespassing or breaking into it? If they aren't, they're very lucky that they didn't.
Play from 16:34May 6, 2026, Construction and Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals Meeting
Ultimately, the dangerous buildings of what we have seen is that it is a magnet for criminal activity.
Play from 16:53May 6, 2026, Construction and Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals Meeting
And basically, this is one of the reasons why we're demanding what we're doing. Not only that, but because it affects every piece of property that's along that particular strip.
Play from 17:02May 6, 2026, Construction and Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals Meeting
And it would be probably more helpful to give us an idea of where they stand on this. It's unfortunate in terms of hardship on the person, but the citizens of of the city should not have to bear that burden because they've been bearing that burden all along. I yield.
Play from 17:15May 6, 2026, Construction and Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals Meeting
Yeah. First off, let me say, hi David.
Play from 32:55May 6, 2026, Construction and Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals Meeting
That is a marvelous, marvelous building. When you're my age, it's like going to Disney World to see one of these old buildings come to life. I mean what a magnificent building that is. So that's great. The other thing is that we're dealing with taxpayers' money. Whether it's taxpayers' money from you or taxpayers' money for us, it's taxpayers' money. So we're going to be as generous as we can possibly be. Simply because why sweep taxpayers' money when we know something's happening. And I think the thing is to make sure that it is on, and it is not pushed back, and that we're moving forward on it. So I'm agreeable to any time that they want to do to do this, because we're neighbors. This is part of our life, and that's part of the history of the city.

Play from 12:31Apr 16, 2026, Code Board of Appeals Meeting

Call the Council Committee of the Whole meeting to order uh now of this Tuesday, March 24th, 2026. I'd like to remind the public that the public comments are welcome on any item and permitted at the appropriate time. Play from 00:24Mar 24, 2026, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Any opposed? It is passed unanimously. Um I now recognize Chairman Andre Boggerty to conduct the business of the Safety Advisory and Transportation Committee. The floor is yours, sir.
Play from 00:32Mar 24, 2026, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Yeah, thank you, um Mr. Chairman. I going back to the same thing that is happening throughout this entire city. We have the next concern is Lincoln Park speeding, and then there's speeding on Denneys Road, then there's speeding on the intersection, there's another speeding on another intersection. And I think maybe we have to revisit uh the speed cameras. Now actually a lot of the speeding that we study, in other words when we put the uh lines down and check this actual speeding, it doesn't go to the speeding limit. But the fact is if we could have a flying squad in terms of of cameras that we move into an area at the time that speeding is is a factor and to see if we can actually catch speeders at that particular point so that they know that they're going to pay a penalty if they're going to speed in these areas. Speeding is caused by people who just don't care. They they just going to do what they're going to do and these cars are so fast, uh you could be very comfortable in a car that's going 40-50 miles an hour in in a in a 25 or 35 mile zone. So I mean basically that's one of the problems we have, but it's happening in different areas of the city and we're getting continual complaints. So I'm just bringing that up again as a possible solution of having that uh camera. Now there are certain things that have to happen. One, when that speeder goes through, it has to be processed very quickly otherwise it kind of dies. And I think that if we bring back the ordinances on it, it's conceivable that we can bring this under control a lot faster than if we do something else because this is one area that has to happen. It's we'll be talking about uh the the Lincoln Park area, but we have it all over the city and we have it on a continual basis. And I'm just throwing that out because I think we have to revisit this as a point to basically control what's happening with speeding and taking money out of the pockets of the people who are doing it. If you're going over a certain limit it's going to cost them. And we can move these uh cameras or barriers all over the place in order to make sure that they're paying it. So I'm throwing that out for for that purpose and I yield Mr. Chairman.
